In the Quran it mentions the virgin conception of Jesus,
why would God go to such extremes to produce a prophet when all other prophets came about the usual way - through intercourse and birth? If Jesus is not divine then what purpose did the virginal conception serve?
Allah Almighty Chose for certain people to be born abnormally:
1- Adam was created from nothing except from a Command from the Word of GOD Almighty that Said: "Be".
2- Eve was created from Adam's rib.
3- King Melchizedek in Hebrews 7:1-5 in the Bible was like Adam; parent-less (no father and no mother), and also greater than Adam for he also had no beginning and no end.
1. This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3. Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.
4 Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder! 5 Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they also are descended from Abraham (Hebrew 7:1-5)
4- Jesus Christ was born from only a mother.
5- There are also those whom Allah Almighty transformed and also will transform in the future into pigs and monkeys because of their evil.
As to why would GOD Almighty go to such extremes and produce such Miracles in some people, I believe this question is to be left for Allah Almighty. It is one of the unknowns.
Jesus Christ was no more than a Great Prophet and a mere creation of Allah Almighty:
"Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to God; (The Noble Quran, 3:45)"
"She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: God createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is! (The Noble Quran, 3:47)"
'لقد كفر الذين قالوا ان الله هو المسيح ابن مريم قل فمن يملك من الله شيئا ان اراد ان يهلك المسيح ابن مريم 'وامه ومن في الارض جميعا ولله ملك السماوات والارض ومابينهما يخلق مايشاء والله على كل شئ قدير
In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against God, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to God belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For God hath power over all things." (5:17)
Also, people back then were good in magic and also medicine and doing medical work among the people of Israel and the Romans. Jesus' miraculous birth looked unusual because no doctor back then could produce such a Miracle. Similar to when Moses performed the Magic to Pharaoh despite the fact that GOD Almighty forbade magic, sorcery, witchcraft and all other magic work in Deuteronomy 18:9-11, and commanded to put sorcerers to death in Exodus 22:18.
GOD Almighty Chose the magic Miracle for Moses because during that time, magicians and magic were big, and Moses' Miraculous creation of a snake from a stick and turning the water from Nile into blood (Exodus 4), and turning the entire Nile into blood (Exodus 7) and other magic defeated all fake tricks. Similar to Muhammad with the Miraculous Language of the Noble Quran. Arabs were big on poetry. The Noble Quran's Miraculous Language came and surpassed all poetry at that time. That's why when Allah Almighty in the Arabic Quran challenged the Arabs to produce a chapter like anyone in the Noble Quran (see Noble Verses 2:23, 10:38, 11:13 and 52:34), the Arabs couldn't do it. Otherwise, Islam would have failed then, especially among the pagan Arabs who later embraced Islam.
"God sent Jesus [peace be upon him] as a prophet to the children of Israel after so many prophets were sent to them, some with miracles as in the case of Moses, but they [Israelites] did not observe and abide by God's laws and commandments. Jesus was the last prophet from the children of Israel to them and was sent in a miraculous way to prove to a people who expected miracles to believe that a person was a prophet from God. Previous miracles did not convince all the Israelites, therefore God sent Jesus [peace be upon him] in the virgin birth manner and bestowed upon him more convincing miracles that he performed by the will of God to convince the Israelites.
The miracle of Jesus' [peace be upon him] virgin birth is a great one so easy for God to do. However, the creation of Adam [peace be upon him] was even greater as he was created from dust (no parents at all). As God plans everything according to his all-knowing powers, he sent Jesus [peace be upon him] as a final chance to the Israelites, but still they did not heed. Now some Christians and Jews will reject this argument on grounds that the Jews were observant of God's commands, to which I would say: what does the NT say about Jesus [peace be upon him] doing to the people in the temple? read the Bible. And what did God do to the children of Israel and the wilderness story? Why was that?"
